I don’t think I’ve officially introduced you to mac pelican’s latest and greatest employee! Please meet Madeleine. Madeleine, please meet the lovely readers. Some of you will have met her already in the store as she has been here since before Christmas. I know, where are my manners!?

Maddy (as I like to call her, you can too if you like) is the famous crafter behind the label Made by Mosey. You know the most gorgeous mobiles, bunting and hankey blankeys that we stock? (pics below) Yes, well Maddy makes them! With her own two hands, at her own dining room table. Just up the road! And you know what else, she is the one of the loveliest ladies that ever set foot on the planet. It’s all true. Come and say hi Maddy, nice to meet you!

And you’ve surely met my mum Helen by now. She’s the one that looks a lot like me, but maybe a couple of years older. But only a couple. Oh she is a spring chicken yes indeedy. And the most helpful mother that ever lived. What a team hey.

Well I’ve just returned from Sunny Sydney over the weekend. I attended the Life in Style gift fair up there and boy oh boy - the excitement, the exhaustion, the anticipation - it all consuming! It was a great weekend full of lovely new products and even more lovely creators. Seeing all this super great stuff really puts a spring in your step. And all so local and lush.

So over the coming weeks expect a lot of ‘oohs and aahs’ and general ‘ooh la la’s’ from yours truly. I will be posting new products as they reach me in store. And I simply can’t wait!

So to get the ball rolling - everyone’s favourite, new Nancybird has arrived in store today. I know, Gasp! I have just unpacked and patted each bag several times. And yes they are as soft as ever. Here’s a sneaky peak of what’s just landed. And remember to check in over the coming weeks for more goodness.

I wonder if you share the same obsession? Or maybe you do, and just haven’t realised it yet.

I got some new plates in last week from Catherine at Chik - you may know her gorgeous jewellery trees that I already stock. Well, she’s made these super plates with images cut out of them to hang on your walls. I also have some new stock from Lightly - the new blue and white plates they designed in conjunction with the clever peeps at Studio Sam. As well as Lightly’s new swallows made from vintage saucers, just like the butterflies she makes that surely you’re familiar with by now? So beautiful. Honestly.

Where would you like to go? Undecided? Go to both - it’s easy with these stamp sets.

Ok, so maybe you don’t really want to sit at the kitchen table stamping and colouring in seaside and farmhouse scenes, but your children might, or your grandchildren? Or you might want to seal an envelope with a sailing boat, or put a few kanga’s on a card? Really, you can do whatever you like.

Each one of these stamps is locally designed and illustrated, then printed onto stamps and ‘rubberised’ (that was my word, not theirs). Timber is then locally sourced and prepared to mount the stamps onto and once this is done, the material for each bag are sourced, sewn and packed together with a gorgeous letterpress card to seal the deal. Thanks Two Degrees in Melbourne - what a champion effort, donchyathink? All local, all recycled, and totally ace and unique stamps.

We were among some very lucky punters who went to see the brilliant author, David Sedaris at the Arts Centre last week.

And lordy lordy did we laugh. Until our sides split. He read one of my favourite stories to us, about a trip he made to Daylesford on his last Australian visit. (Bear with me here dear readers, this will eventually make sense)..

So after a most hilarious journey, he ended up hand feeding a kookaburra (that he was scared stiff of) at The Lakehouse while having lunch there in Daylesford. He then went on to tell how he and his sister had learnt the song, Laugh Kookaburra Laugh at school in their younger years. Having no real idea at all about what any of it meant, they sung and sung and sung.

Which brings me to my next point. I have just this very moment received new items from Lark - in Daylesford…… See the way I did that there - I managed to talk up my favourite David Sedaris while incorporating Lark and the fact that they’re from Daylesford and threw in a little kookaburra magic, just because it all ties in beautifully with his story. See?

So come and meet little Lambie, Mrs Duck, Daisy Donkey and the little gnome rattles - they’re all very nice.
